PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Quintana Roo, Mexico - Golf Publishing International has announced the Person of the Year for 2010, Mexican Super Star, Lorena Ochoa presented by Avis Car Rental.
The four-time LPGA Player of the Year, now retired at the ripe young age of 29, has set her focus on giving back to her community, to her country and to the young Hispanic population, especially girls.
She has established the Lorena Ochoa Foundation in both Mexico and the United States to create a system to introduce the game of golf that she has loved all her life and excelled at it. She won a record of 5 times World Amateur Championship as a pre-teenager while growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico.
She also won the Charlie Bartlett award this year from the Golf Writer's Association of America for her humanitarian efforts.
Lorena is truly unique. She is a tireless giver and is passionate about all the things she does. When she is at an event like the recent Mayakoba Classic in the Riviera Maya, full with top PGA players, she is the one the fans look for and she is the one that naturally reaches out and shakes a hand or smile for a photo.
"It is always a pleasure to be around her and share in the positive energy that radiates from the core of her being" said Chuck Kinder, Founder of Golf Publishing International and a long time friend of Mexico.
