Sixth Annual Payette Cup Draws Couples from Throughout West to Play Private, Top-Rated, Mountain-Lake Links PDF Print E-mail
MCCALL, Idaho (June 16, 2011) -- Whitetail Club in McCall, Idaho, is hosting the sixth-annual Payette Cup couples golf tournament Aug. 25-27. Limited to 60 couples, the event is not only open to Whitetail Club members and their guests, but to guests of the public boutique lakefront resort Shore Lodge, as well.

According to Dan Scott, general manager of Whitetail Club, Shore Lodge, and a new world-class spa called The Cove, the Payette Cup is one of the finest couples tournaments in Idaho. "It's the perfect time of year up here and the tournament is a great getaway for couples and their friends who love to golf and spend time in McCall," he says. "For golf fanatics, the Payette Cup represents a great opportunity to play what's considered one of the top private golf courses in the country. And if you're interested in joining one of the best mountain-lake golf clubs in the West, it gives you a great chance to kick the tires a bit."

The three-day event includes one practice round and two tournament rounds of golf, a welcome reception Thursday night at Shore Lodge's Upper Pavilion with appetizers and cocktails, and an awards dinner and dance Saturday night at Whitetail Club's Golf Shop & Grille. Tournament registration costs $950 per couple, and Shore Lodge is offering a special 15 percent discount off lodging rates for Payette Cup participants. Friday night is left open in case tournament players want to dine at The Narrows Restaurant or one of Shore Lodge's other acclaimed onsite establishments.

Call Whitetail Club's pro shop at (208) 630-0211 to sign up for the tournament. However, if you're not a member or guest of the private resort community, you must book reservations at Shore Lodge beforehand by calling (800) 657-6464.

Resting on 1,300 breathtaking acres overlooking Payette Lake -- a beautiful, glacier-carved lake surrounded by the western edge of the Rocky Mountains -- Whitetail Club is the area's only private club and community. Designed by Roger Packard and two-time U.S. Open winner Andy North, Whitetail's links are ranked by Golfweek Magazine as a Top 100 Best Course to Play in America. Also considered one of America's 100 Greatest Courses by Golf Digest Magazine and an important link in the Idaho Golf Trail, this 18-hole, par-72 course extends 7,200 yards. The club also boasts one of the Northwest's top golf professionals, with head pro Todd Bindner named 2010 Golf Professional of the Year by the Rocky Mountain Section of the PGA.

Whitetail Club also maintains a driving range, putting practice greens, chipping greens, and refreshment centers. Its 3,500-square-foot full-service clubhouse is home to a pro shop, restaurant, lounge, outdoor patio, locker rooms, swing analysis and training equipment, bag storage and stunning, panoramic views.

On top of a championship golf course, Whitetail Club offers unsurpassed mountain-lake living and year-round recreational opportunities for every age group. Uniquely situated in the heart of Payette National Forest, McCall and Whitetail Club enjoy prime access to the largest area of protected wilderness in the continental United States. They're also nearby three major river systems and the best and most plentiful hot springs in the country. Plus Whitetail Club is only 10 minutes from Brundage Mountain, which Ski Magazine says has "the best powder in North America" and which provides lift-assisted access to more than 20 miles of mountain bike trails.

In addition, Whitetail Club boasts such first-class indoor and outdoor amenities as a 6,000-square-foot Fish & Swim Club, a 14,000-square-foot Indoor Tennis & Fitness Center, preferred access and discounts at The Cove, a mountain-top yurt with a fire pit and scenic valley overlook, 10 miles of paved walking paths, 5 miles of Nordic ski trails, proximity to more than 500 miles of snowmobile trails, access to Shore Lodge's private beach and marina, and a vibrant member activity program. A limited selection of 25 homesites offering golf, lake, and/or mountain views are still available, as well as a handful of elegant cabin homes.
