KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Perhaps no other golf resort in the country has grown more spectacular in the past five years, and done it more thoughtfully, than the Kiawah Island Golf Resort off the coast of South Carolina.

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The Wisconsin Dells area has been known to the residents of the upper Midwest as a great summer vacation destination for about 150 years. Since 1979, when the first water park opened here, The Dells has been known for both outdoor and indoor aquatic fun.

It’s the only place I know where you can drop down and get to Heaven.

So, I was wrong! For years, my best friend in the world has been telling me that Snowmass not only was the best mountain he ever skied, but also had some of the best golf around.  As a resident of Park City, which boasts three of the nation’s Top 15 ski resorts and five world-class golf course communities, I was flat-out skeptical.

My husband is awfully surprised when I ask him if we can go to Cooperstown for the weekend. After all, he’s the die-hard Red Sox fan; I just watch a game or two to keep him company. I don’t know the first thing about the legendary “Road to Cooperstown,” I’ve only vaguely heard that the Hall of Fame has started honoring players from the Women’s Professional and the Negro Leagues, and the Jim Rice controversy doesn’t even ring a bell.
