VIENNA, VA – “Around the World in 80 Rounds” -- the humorous travelogue chronicling David Wood’s year-long odyssey from the world’s southernmost to northernmost golf courses (Ushuaia, Argentina to Tromso, Norway) – has just been released in paperback through Amazon.com’s publishing company.
Originally released in hardback by St. Martin’s Press in 2008, the book covers Wood’s hilarious journey as trains, planes, ferries, camels and elephants haul him and his beloved golf clubs to courses in 26 countries and more than 60,000 miles.
The work has been called “laugh out loud funny” by CBS golf analyst Bobby Clampett and “highly entertaining” by Publisher’s Weekly. “Wood’s debut scores a solid eagle,” says Kirkus Reviews. The audio version (narrated by Wood) was produced by Brilliance Audio.
“Along the way, I suffered ghastly food poisoning in India and Egypt; weathered severe altitude sickness when crossing the Andes; encountered bloody civil wars in Bolivia and Nepal; accidently met Argentina’s notorious dictator Carlos Menem; and was arrested by armed guards and deported in Ukraine,” says Wood. “It wasn’t exactly a golf weekend in Myrtle Beach.”
A former comedian with several appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman,” Wood now holds a public relations position with Buffalo Communications – the global golf-lifestyle PR, branding and marketing-communications firm. He mainly works with international resort clients, including Mission Hills China, Celtic Manor (Wales) and Pristine Bay (Roatan, Honduras).
“David Wood’s worldly experiences and media contacts help Buffalo Communications effectively relate to our international clients,” says Rich Katz, Managing Director of Buffalo Communications. “This allows our agency to consistently position clients ‘in the news’ to benefit their brand equity and sales.”
“Around the World in 80 Rounds” is available in hardback, paperback and audio on Amazon.com.
