Dominican Republic Golf Vacations PDF Print E-mail
By Patrick M. Lind, Demand Media

As of May 2010, 19 golf courses call the Dominican Republic home, some of which are located with views over the Atlantic Ocean or Caribbean Sea. Some resorts in the Dominican Republic even have their own course directly on the property, combining the benefits of a Caribbean vacation with the challenges of a golf vacation.

    Puntacana Resort & Club

The Puntacana Resort & Club is set along the Dominican Republic's east coast. P.B. Dye designed both of the resort's 18-hole, championship courses. Most holes play along the coast providing panoramic views of the ocean. Water and sand hazards lay sporadically throughout the palm tree-lined course. The resort's "Puntacana Golf Experience" includes a four-night stay and three rounds of golf. Rooms have a modern Caribbean design and come with flat-screen televisions, marble bathrooms and mahogany furniture. Guests have access to a full-service spa, tennis courts, a marina, an outdoor swimming pool and a beach. The resort has seven restaurants and five bars. Casa de Campo
The Casa de Campo resort covers 7,000 oceanfront acres on the island's southeastern coast. It is home to the renowned Teeth of the Dog golf course as well as two others complete with personal caddies. Each course puts players along the sea and provides difficulties including undulating fairways, guinea grass roughs and gusting winds. Guests stay in modern guestrooms that feature wood furnishings, flat-screen televisions, wireless Internet access and private terraces. The resort has its own private beach, equestrian center, clay shooting center, tennis courts, spa and fitness center. The resort features 20 restaurants and 15 bars. An all-inclusive package is available. Casa de Campo P.O. Box 140 La Romana Dominican Republic 809-523-3333 www.casadecampo.com.do Melia

    Caribe Tropical Resort
Guests of the all-inclusive Melia Caribe Tropical Resort have access to the Cocotal Golf and Country Club for an additional fee. This Jose "Pepe" Gancedo-designed 18-hole course tests the skills of players of all levels with its sea winds, rolling hills and strategically placed bunkers. The clubhouse offers lessons and club rentals. The resort features all suites that come with private balconies, separate living and bedrooms and high-speed Internet access. Guests can enjoy the hotel's 10 swimming pools, two spas, eight tennis courts, casino and special children's entertainment area. For dining and drinking, guests can choose from 13 different restaurants and 14 bars.
